What We Do For You Before You Become A Client
Once you have contacted us, we will call you to establish what your enquiry is about.
If you want to meet to discuss the possibility of franchising your business, we are happy to come to your business and talk through our view of what works and what doesn't in franchising and how that relates to your business.
We do not charge for the initial meetings and the Assessment Report.
Our First Meeting
Normally the first meeting takes about two hours and is very much a get to know each other meeting We like these meetings to be as relaxed as possible and as far as we are concerned this is exactly what it says on the tin - a get to know meeting.
We strongly hold the view that we have to like and trust each other otherwise this relationship will not work. After all, this is a huge decision for your business and will dramatically effect how you take your business forward. We will also give you an honest appraisal of your businesses suitability for franchising.
Our Second Meeting
If we are all happy after that meeting, we will come back and see you again. This second meeting has two main purposes - to allow you to ask more detailed questions and to allow us to explore your company in more detail.
One of our claims to fame is that we are world class at asking dumb questions - the sorts of questions that get to the nitty gritty of how your business works and how we will crate a successful franchise together.
In particular we are looking to build a pro-forma profit and loss account for a franchisee. Our view is that franchising only works when the franchisee makes decent money. That may sound blindingly obvious but there are many franchises out there where that is the very last concern of the franchisor. (We are convinced that this is only ethical way to run a franchise business.
In fact over the long run a franchisor not only makes more money but also builds more value in the business by ensuring his franchisees make substantial amounts of income). So it is very important that, at this stage, we can see whether this is a sound business for a franchisee. Obviously, if it is not, then the discussions will end at that point.
Assessment Report
If, following that meeting, we are both happy, we will go on to produce a detailed assessment report for you. This 50-page report will explain how the franchise will work, how we go about our work, the fees involved and a projected income for your client. It is written in plain simple English - jargon is not our first language!
It is only at this point that you have to make a decision about whether you want to work with us - and only then do you start to pay any fees to us
